Decreasing unnecessary laboratory testing in medical critical care

The overuse of laboratory testing is common in the intensive care unit (ICU) which leads to an increased cost and potential for harm patient. There no evidence that obtaining daily tests helps reduce mortality or morbidity critical patients. We conduced a retrospective study where chart review was performed assess frequency unnecessary followed by quality improvement initiative. With our we were successful at reducing inappropriate improving appropriate through study.
